Sculpting Project

So, after my first attempt last year at creating a maquette, I’m feeling like I wanna make another. I completely screwed up the first one and didn’t quite see it all the way through, so hopefully I can learn from my mistakes. As usual when it comes to creating something that requires skill and attention, the main area where I fell short was in the planning. Getting the pose was easy enough, coming from a 3D model, I could view it from any angle and print out scale drawings to use as guides. Then came the building of the armature…. now here’s where i went wrong. I didn’t get the proportions quite right at this stage and i didn’t make the armature sturdy enough. Thats what caused the most amount of pain, as I started building up the model, i had to go back in and hack up the armature….total mess lol. Here’s some photos of the work in progress and the final result. As for my next maquette, I’ll post my progress on here as soon as it’s underway.

Ok, so its a stupidly long name, but it’s a fun little TV spot which was aired on NBC this halloween. I worked on this whilst in a gap period between Madagascar 2 and the movie which I am currently working on – “Oobermind”. Its a very simple story and definitely aimed at the kids. If you check it out, be sure to catch the scenes of them trick or treating…….when Bob says “what is happening right now?”,.. funny stuff

Forza 3 Review

For those of you unable to wait until summer 2010 for Gran Turismo 5, I recommend that you try out the newly released Forza 3 on the Xbox. Whilst it doesn’t quite reach the lofty heights of realism offered by the GT series, it’s easily the next best thing out there. The environments and tracks have the upper hand on GT prologue and look absolutely stunning. The cars are almost as good looking as GT, but in general they too look stunning. The game has a nice balance of realism versus gameplay and the car handling is amazing fun, especially when playing head to head or online. The career mode is massive although it’s slightly confusing, but every option you can think of is in there. So if you cant wait till next year when Polyphony Digital will most likely retake the crown of Racing Sim’s, for now Forza 3 is the one to play.

A friend of mine gave me a few nice books this xmas. One of them was The wizard of OZ, with art by Enrique Fernandez. Its so so cool, i love this book. If you havent seen it before, check it out!
